Please don't say otherwise, it's rude to her because she was a virgin and this was important to her. I would say the same thing if someone suggested she had been with a man, but i may have accused them of sexism and i do not accuse you of this.
She also was not a transman. She called herself the Maiden. That is practically screaming from the rooftops that she was a woman. She dressed in male costume for her role as a soldier and for safety but did not conceal tht she was a girl. This too is an important part of who she was, a maiden, a virgin and a young woman, who fought for God, country and the protection of the innocent.
Your intentions are good and I am always happy to see interest in The Maid but please don't dismiss her virginity or discount her female gender. Joan suffered persecution because of her clothing and gender as LGBT people do, but it seems to me that being trans is very different than wearing boy's clothes and to say it is overlooks how trans people are not crossdressers but transgendered. She remained a woman in men's clothing despite her duty and seems to have wanted to go back to her old life after the war and be buried in a long dress so she said. This seems very different than identifying as a man. Joan's struggles and the struggles of a trans person may overlap but they include different struggles and should not be mixed up.
I see how you want to promote this pious lady as lgbt, especially since religious people have so few examples of devout lgbt people but Joan simply doesn't fit in unless she had a secret crush on a girl or something but we cant know that. Please use her as an example of a strong woman who stood against pressure and suffered in part because of her gender and because of her unusual dress and position, but please recognize that she was a woman and a virgin through and though. I base my statements of her words not out of bigotry. I've studied Joan a long time and I don't think she would want her gender and especially not her virginity questioned. It was that important to her.
I am submitting this anon just cause I hate social media and dont want an account.
-Joan researcher and fan Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
