Jean died peacefully this morning, Nov. 8 and is survived by her partner Mary. I’ll never forget the trip we took together to the Grand Canyon in the early 1990s. Nothing could stop her -- on the road or in the church. She was determined to speak out God’s love for all people. Thank you, Jean! I’ll never forget you.Kittredge Cherryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02617858676733169316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29680163.post-63274315125207071902010-11-04T16:09:52.513-07:002010-11-04T16:09:52.513-07:00You are the second person who has told me that the...You are the second person who has told me that they are revisiting the memorial every day to read and see a little more each time. I added the names of your loved ones to a new group of candles.

There wasn’t much reaction when this memorial was first posted, but I have learned that people want and need time to absorb it. Coming to this memorial is somewhat like walking into a quiet church sanctuary to light a candle… a process of slowing and reflecting. Its impact cannot be measured in quick clicks.

Creating this memorial also took a lot more time and reflection than most of my blog posts. I found comfort for some of my own losses in the process of finding and organizing these quotations.Kittredge Cherryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02617858676733169316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29680163.post-76031114633554243932010-11-04T05:12:07.183-07:002010-11-04T05:12:07.183-07:00I have revisited this page every day, and believe ...I have revisited this page every day, and believe it is indeed a gift. Although I lighted individual candles for two especially beloved who fit the context of those lost young due to incomplete understanding of God's love and their calling in this world, I think I'll send you a few more names for a "group remembrance".Trudiehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17866513608442388870noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29680163.post-28444718249861862862010-11-03T11:30:26.087-07:002010-11-03T11:30:26.087-07:00All Souls Day is past, but I am going to keep addi...All Souls Day is past, but I am going to keep adding names and candles to this memorial upon request. This is the first time we’ve done a memorial here, so I wasn’t sure what kind of response to expect, but it seems to be filling a need.

Thanks, Turtle Woman, you are one of many who told me that this candle memorial was meaningful to them.Kittredge Cherryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02617858676733169316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29680163.post-49457809085268891632010-11-02T16:24:11.086-07:002010-11-02T16:24:11.086-07:00I just love these candles and all the quotes.
