I tend to take that for granted. I enjoyed visiting your blog to read your poem. Coming from a Protestant background, I feel that there is no danger of Mary usurping Christ’s role as savior and head of the church. I often look to the Holy Spirit and Wisdom… or even Christ calling himself a mother hen… when I look for female images of God in Christian tradition.Kittredge Cherryhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/02617858676733169316noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-29680163.post-72991034602665348162013-09-13T16:34:12.081-07:002013-09-13T16:34:12.081-07:00The mentioned links are interesting, but I don’t f...The mentioned links are interesting, but I don’t feel there’s need to justify lesbianism via any queen of heaven imagery. It risks a certain confusion.

Catholic Marian cult even if culturally influenced by worship of Diana in Ephesus (disapproved by and persecutory of St Paul), in fact drew its images from Proverbs on the divine Wisdom (and the extension of this in the Apocrypha) transferring attributes and symbols almost wholesale onto the human but increasingly divinised Mary. It did this at the expense of letting us see as intended the feminine in God. I have been issuing a lot of poetry recently and this month for Mary’s alleged birthday according to Catholicism I released a poem “Maryianity: A Poem concerning the Virgin”, which tackles the confusion I see Marian cult as releasing into Christianity.
http://bit.ly/1at69g6
(The next poem will controversially tackle mysteries of Mother Teresa, who btw wasn't exactly pro gay!)
Rollan McClearynoreply@blogger.com
